Turkey’s turbulent past year and implications for the future

Sir David Logan, Former Ambassador to Turkey and Chair of the British Institute at Ankara, will be speaking at a CEFTUS Roundtable discussing Turkey’s turbulent past year and its implications for the country’s future.

Please see speaker biography below.

This past year, Turkey has consistently made headlines often for the wrong reasons. From attacks by Islamic State and the PKK, to July’s attempted coup and subsequent purges, and more recently Turkey’s military incursion into Syria, looking set to shake up the region. With the recent assassination of Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, the country once again shaped the news cycle. Moving into 2017, much is unclear about Turkey’s future. With fast-moving events in Syria and Iraq, as well as domestically, the path Turkey takes will have huge implications regionally.

At our upcoming roundtable event, we will be discussing with Sir David Logan potential scenarios for the future in light of the events of the last year.

The event will take place from 10.00am to 12.00am on 27 January 2017, location still to be confirmed. This is an invitation only event.

The event will mark the beginning of CEFTUS’ partnership with Frontier Horizons Risk Consultancy.
